ABOUT

Nancy GaleIn a sea of new designers with aspirations of grandeur, few stand out as having the voracious passion and unerring commitment to quality that it takes to become a true luxury line. JAMAH is one of those rarities. Unlike most American designers, JAMAH designer Nancy Gale made the bold decision to produce her line entirely in the United States. With her factory mere minutes from her home, Gale personally oversees every aspect of her bags’ production. JAMAH specializes in made-to-order bags, including custom pieces that Gale consults with her private clients on to create one-of-a-kind pieces that maintain the integrity of the JAMAH aesthetic.

JAMAH’s timeless designs redefine the modern classic. Fashioned from luxurious, lightweight Italian leather and hardware to customized exotic skins, a JAMAH bag is distinguishable by its fusion of elegant form and rich, sophisticated colors. Honoring the integrity of the leather’s texture and purity of line, JAMAH designs maintain refined silhouettes.

The luxury leather collection includes a combination of generous shapes and sizes. Sleek, simple lines and quietly luxurious finishes make up JAMAH’s consistent, but diverse selection of handbags, men’s bags, accessories and home pieces. From meticulous hand-stitching and metal “feet” that protect the bag’s underside to contoured and detachable straps, a JAMAH bag is an indispensable and long-lasting staple in the most discerning of wardrobes. Functionality and durability are as much a feature of a JAMAH bag as its stunning aesthetics, making JAMAH the perfect investment piece. JAMAH ensures that the suede lining of each bag is crafted with the same care and attention to detail as the exterior. JAMAH’s motto, ‘be who you are,’ embraces the philosophy that beauty is found both inside and out and represents the inspiration we have within ourselves.

JAMAH’s exclusive designs instantly developed a following among Hollywood’s A-List, putting the JAMAH brand on the radar of fashion editors across the globe. Gale has deliberately kept JAMAH out of retail stores, a move that, while initially less lucrative, preserves the line’s exclusivity. Such a statement harks back to the beginnings of Chanel, where not catering to the mass market was a risky but ultimately crucial factor in the brand’s achievement of true luxury status. JAMAH’s early notoriety from its popularity with iconic celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Eva Longoria landed the line features in Vogue and InStyle, but did not deter Gale from her mission to keep the line private. Talent including Diane Lane, Courtney Cox, Carrie Underwood, Jessica Alba and Channing Tatum carry their JAMAH bags on and off-camera, placing the line on the cusp of major-label status. JAMAH has been featured in Style File, People and US as well as on television’s Parenthood, Cinema Verite and Extra to name a few.

Gale, a L’Oréal 2010 Women of Worth nominee, is a leader in the emerging trend of exclusive, yet accessible authorities. Taking trendsetting to another level, she reaches beyond the obvious with an unexpected combination of elements. Her consistently timeless designs exude a definitive sense of style. Gale believes that personal style embodies confidence and makes the ultimate fashion statement.

While available for purchase online, JAMAH bags are shown by appointment only, private atelier showcases, exclusive trunk shows and special events where custom bags are commissioned for design.

Gale’s commitment to a brand that stands for something propelled her mission to give and inspired her strong philosophy to connect cause within JAMAH so intrinsically that one cannot function without the other. Concerned that underprivileged youth lack the support and resources necessary to provide consistent mentorship and exposure to real-world business experience, Gale started In True Fashion. In True Fashion is a competition-based entrepreneurial program that fosters entrepreneurial thinking in low-income students. Founded on cause, commerce & consciousness, In True Fashion builds self-esteem and work ethic through hands-on participation and promotes the value of products “Made in the USA.” Above all, In True Fashion empowers today’s youth to dream big. Gale’s continued dedication is fueled by her determination to make In True Fashion a tribute to those who have invested time and resources in her journey.

    Dear Jamah representative,
This post contains a unique request, which is perhaps apropos considering the incredibly unique nature of your products. My name is Lizzie, and I am writing to inquire about theBark Nanny Bag. I have been searching for the perfect diaper bag for months, and with my baby daughter making her appearance shortly, it seemed like a god send when I finally stumbled on your website. I have never seen such extraordinary bags, and the fact that they are truly unisex is as remarkable as the fact that they appear to be gorgeous and homegrown works of functional artistry. Congratulations on the success of your line (I checked out your press link), it seems well deserved!
I know your days are probably pretty busy-especially with the rate the celebrities are bringing all these gorgeous new babies into the world-so I’ll try to keep this short. My daughter, Estella, is being born into a house of 2 hard-working parents. We are saving away to pay for future French lessons, a baby drum set, and all the finger paints her heart desires. We have built her a library full of garage sale bought books (the ultimate recycling) and an armoire full of organic onesies from local shops. In short, we are the type of parents who will do anything to make the world a stylish, beautiful, and better one for our baby. Your company is quite remarkable in your efforts to teach our youth about responsible consumerism. I hope that I will be able to instill this principle upon my daughter. If there is any way that we can help, please let me know.
This inquiry is coming to you from a woman who bought a pricey couture Ulla Maija wedding gown-when our economy lent itself for me to be so frivolous-from a charity based boutique so that on my big day I knew maybe it was a big day for someone else out there. That purchase went to help children and women who are victims of abuse and now as an expectant mother, children’s causes have seemed more important than ever. I was so pleased to find a company who shares this ideal. I am donating my chord blood to a community bank to help save a local child in need of these stem cells. I am by no means a saint, but I try to do my part.
The bottom line of this letter is that I cannot-as much as I would like to-afford to buy my dream bag. Oh how I wish I could! It’s not an issue of not being able to save up the money, I don’t want to lie. It’s an issue of having other necessities for our baby that are just a little more, well, necessary. I am not trying to imply that it is an outrageous price for a bag, in fact, the bag seems more than worth the cost. I am trying to imply that there are stylish, hip, good parents out there who sometimes wish for a retail miracle if you will. I just keep looking at all the B list diaper bags with a sigh, knowing that I will have to just settle... And this is doubly irksome in that I want nothing more than to teach my daughter to never settle in life. So I figured I’d lead by example, take a crap shoot, and write this letter. Hopefully Estella, like me, will dream big and take a few chances.
Have you thought about seting up a forum for people to trade or buy used bags? Have any bags been used as samples, or used by employees who may not need them anymore? Are there anyone of these bags lying around, with maybe a stain or some wear and tear, that are just begging to be recycled? I would certainly pay for it, I am not asking for a hand out, just for a little help. This bag is just too amazing for words, and knowing that your company is helping make the world better for our youth just makes it that much more incredible.
I am sorry to have taken so much of your time. Bag or no bag, please let me know how I can help. At the end of the day it is about making a better planet for Estella and her piers. Thank you very much for doing your part, I applaud your efforts on this front.

    Sincerely,

    Lizzie
